Myanmar's Amb. Thant Sin meets with Gunsan City Mayor Kim Woo-min

To expand cultural, religious, and other exchanges between the two countries

Gunsan City Council of Jeonbuk State, led by Chairman Kim Woo-min, held a meeting with Myanmar's Ambassador to Korea Thant Sin and his delegation at the Gunsan City Council on Aug. 19.

 

The meeting was attended by the Myanmar ambassador and his wife, as well as Gunsan City Council Chairman Kim Woo-min, Economic Construction Committee Chairman Ji Hae-chun, Councilor Park Kyung-tae, and Buddhist Monk Hae Yoon of Yeombul-sa Temple.

 

 

At the event, they exchanged views and discussed various ways to promote friendship and cultural exchange between Korea and Myanmar.

 

“We sincerely welcome Ambassador Thant Sin and his delegation to Gunsan City,” said Kim Woo-min, chairman of the Gunsan City Council. ”Gunsan is one of the cities with the greatest potential for future development as Saemangeum is being developed,’ he said. ”We look forward to active cultural and economic exchanges with Myanmar in the future.”

 
Myanmar's Ambassador to Korea Thant Sin said, “I am grateful to the chairman for explaining in detail the specific projects related to Saemangeum today,” adding, “I hope that this visit will expand exchanges between the two countries.”

 

Meanwhile, the Myanmar ambassador's visit to Gunsan was aimed at promoting friendship and expanding Buddhist cultural exchanges between the two countries, along with the installation of a golden pagoda at the Yeombul-sa Temple.
