President Yoon Suk-yeol received six delegates of the U.S. Congressional Study Group on Korea (CSGK), including Representatives Ami Bera (CSGK Co-Chair) and Young Kim (CSGK Co-Chair), and exchanged views on ways to work with the U.S. Congress to advance the U.S.-Korea alliance on March 25.

The President welcomed the delegation of the CSGK, a group of members of the U.S. Congress who are among the most fond of Korea, and praised the CSGK for its efforts in expanding the support base for the ROK-U.S. alliance in the U.S. Congress and promoting the development of bilateral relations.

The President recalled the warm hospitality shown to him by members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives when he visited Capitol Hill to address the U.S. Congress on the occasion of his state visit last April, and asked for their unwavering support so that the U.S.-ROK "Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance" based on universal values can move forward more vigorously into the future.

In addition, the President said that economic cooperation, including active investment by Korean companies, is the foundation of the future growth engine of the two countries, and asked for the U.S. Congress's special attention to support the activities of Korean companies in the U.S.

He also requested cooperation in passing a professional visa quota bill in the U.S. Congress to facilitate the entry of Korean professionals and young people into the U.S.

In response, the U.S. delegation said that the U.S. Congress is a bipartisan supporter of the U.S.-Korea alliance, and that the Korea Study Group, which has a special interest and affection for Korea and the U.S.-Korea relationship, will continue to do its best to advance the alliance by actively leading legislative activities related to Korea, including the professional visa quota bill.

Meanwhile, the visiting lawmakers appreciated that the U.S.-ROK alliance is firmly deterring the threat of North Korea, while working closely together as a global alliance to promote freedom, peace, and prosperity in the region and the world, and congratulated the Republic of Korea on its successful hosting of the Third Democracy Summit last week.
