The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Seoul (Ambassador Saeed Koozechi) hosted a reception to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the National Day of Iran at Lotte Hotel Seoul in Sogong-dong on Feb. 8.

"Forty-five years ago at this time, the Islamic Revolution triumphed in Iran, and the Islamic Revolution, under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, succeeded in introducing a system based on religious democracy in the social and political spheres through the power of the Iranian people themselves," said Ambassador Saeed Koozechi.

"Since then, Iran has been conducting a foreign policy that is not tied to any particular country, bloc, or ideology, and the people have played a pivotal role in determining their own destiny through democratic mechanisms."

The ambassador continued to say, "I wish the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Korea continue peace, freedom and friendship in the future."

Kim Hyo-eun, Ambassador for Climate Change at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, said in an address, "I am pleased to have this opportunity to honor the 62 years of friendship between Korea and Iran, and I believe that the relations between Korea and Iran will be further improved based on Ambassador Koozechi's efforts, and we will continue to work together with the Embassy of Iran in Korea."

The event was attended by more than 500 ambassadors and senior diplomats from various countries and Iranian officials to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Iran's National Day.
