The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Embassy of France in Seoul jointly hosted an event marking the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, French Ambassador to South Korea Philippe Bertoux reaffirmed France's firm commitment to protecting the planet.
At an event co-hosted by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Embassy of France in Korea, Ambassador Philippe Bertoux stated, "We believe that the Global Partnership for International Cooperation (GPIC) and Korea can help achieve this and ensure the legacy of the Paris Agreement continues."
The GGGI successfully concluded its Global Green Growth Week ('GGGWeek2025') event at its Seoul headquarters from October 27 to 31, under the theme "Innovation in a Changing World: Solutions for Climate and Development."
GGGI also dedicated a special event to former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who is also the Chair of the GGGI Board of Trustees.
Former UN Secretary-General Ban attended the opening ceremony and emphasized the importance of the input and participation of future generations to address current challenges facing humanity, such as the climate crisis, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
Following this, a closed-door meeting attended by ministers from GGGI member countries and partner countries, including Qatar, Pakistan, Mongolia, Ecuador, and Sri Lanka, explored ways to find more practical solutions within diverse political, economic, and cultural contexts.
Secretary-General Kim Sang-hyeop emphasized in his opening remarks, "Based on the Paris Agreement, we must expand climate action and accelerate it even further through stronger cooperation and partnerships."
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok pledged, "As the largest donor to GGGI, the government of the Republic of Korea will work more closely with the international community to address the climate crisis and transition to green energy."
The GGGI was established in 2012 at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development as an international organization based on an intergovernmental treaty.
GGGI supports member countries in transitioning their economies to a green growth model that simultaneously achieves poverty reduction, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.
Currently, 53 member countries and 30 partner countries and regional integration organizations are in the process of joining.
