The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will hold the 14th Workshop for Overseas Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Korea from September 15 to September 20.
Launched in 2010, this Workshop aims so that they can provide more effective support in protecting overseas Koreans and in promoting Korea’s diplomatic activities.
This year’s Workshop, the 14th of its kind, will bring together honorary consuls from 12 countries. This six-day event will kick off with a welcome reception, followed by a seminar to share best practices, special lectures on Korea’s economy and security, and field visits to cultural sites and industrial facilities.
The 12 countries are the Kingdom of Sweden, the Russian Federation, the Republic of India, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Kingdom of Denmark, the United States of America, the Republic of Finland, the Kingdom of Tonga, the Republic of Liberia, Romania and the Federative Republic of Brazil
In particular, the honorary consuls will visit Gyeongju, the host city of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders‘ Meeting, to tour major cultural heritage sites, such as the Gyeongju National Museum, Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple. They will also visit Pohang Steelworks (POSCO) to witness Korea’s industrial development first-hand.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to implement this Workshop program so that overseas honorary consuls can actively support the protection of overseas Koreans and Korea’s diplomatic activities.
