Finnish Ambassador to Korea Jyri Järviaho visits DGIST in Daegu

Seeking science and technology cooperation

Finnish Ambassador to South Korea Jyri Järviaho visited Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) on July 2. The visit was arranged to discuss ways to expand exchanges and practical cooperation in the fields of science and technology and higher education, the DGIST said.

 

Ambassador Jyri Järviaho has been focusing on strengthening innovation ecosystem cooperation between the two countries by visiting major science and technology institutions in Korea since taking office as the Finnish Ambassador to Korea in 2024.

 

 

Recently, he has been taking the lead in expanding joint research and talent exchange through contacts with leading universities and research institutions such as Seoul National University and KAIST.

 

At DGIST, he discussed various cooperation options with key officials, including potential collaboration with major Finnish universities and research institutes, student and researcher exchanges, and joint research and development.

 

He also toured the research facilities to gain a better understanding of DGIST's education and research infrastructure.

 

A DGIST official stated, “We will continue to work closely with the Finnish Embassy and further strengthen our global innovation network through this visit. We hope to make a substantial contribution to the development of science and technology and the cultivation of talent in both countries.”

 

Meanwhile, Finland is a country with world-class competitiveness in advanced ICT, bio, energy, and other fields, and the Finnish Embassy in Korea has been actively exchanging with various universities and research institutions in Korea.
