Kim Wae-cheol, director of the National Ocean Science Museum (NOSM), was invited to an official luncheon by Norwegian Ambassador to Korea Anne Kari Hansen Ovind on March 28, 2025 and expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and pledged to continue exchanges in the future, including international cooperation exhibitions and beach-plogging marine activities.
In July last year, the National Ocean Science Museum successfully hosted a special exhibition on international cooperation, 'Go into action! Polar Expedition'.

The exhibition ran for 100 days in cooperation with the Fram Museum, the center of Norwegian polar exploration.
The actual tools that scientist Fridtjof Nansen used to explore the Arctic aboard the Fram in 1892, a book summarizing the results of scientific experiments conducted during the expedition, and photos of the expedition were provided by the museum, giving visitors the opportunity to see them in Korea without traveling to Norway.
Norwegian Ambassador to Korea Anne Kari Hansen Ovind, who attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition, showed her love for the sea by participating in beach plogging activities with the staff of the science musem at Hujeong Beach in Uljin, and taking the lead in marine environment conservation activities.
During his visit to the embassy, Kim expressed his gratitude for the cooperation for the success of the last special exhibition on international cooperation. He also had a meaningful time exploring practical ways to provide more enriching content for visitors to the museum, such as developing exhibitions and educational programs that introduce Norway's various maritime strengths.
“It is important that we have laid the foundation for various international cooperation through communication and cooperation with the Embassy of Norway in Korea,” said Kim. ”We will continue to interact with various countries so that the National Ocean Science Museum can leap forward as a global luxury marine science center.”
