The 2025 “Diplomacy and Reunification K-Folk Painting Exhibition” will be held from March 12 to 18 at the Korea Museum of Art, Insa-dong in Seoul.
The K-Folk Painting Exhibition is co-hosted by the Diplomacy Journal and the K-Folk Painting Research Center, co-organized by the Korea Masters Association and the monthly K-Folk Painting, and sponsored by the Damwha Cultural Foundation.
The event is designed to pray for peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula through art and to recognize the status of Korean culture on the global diplomatic stage. In particular, various creative works on the theme of diplomacy and reunification will be exhibited, centering on folk paintings.
A place for exchange between overseas and domestic folk painting artists
The 'Diplomacy and Reunification Folk Painting Exhibition' will feature famous domestic and international artists, and is expected to be an opportunity to promote the spirit of Korean culture overseas through cooperation with overseas Korean art organizations.
Sponsors of the event include the World Peace Art Exhibition Organizing Committee, UN Journal, Citizens Administration Newspaper, K-Culture, Korea Culture, World Culture Promotion Foundation, K-Culture Promotion Foundation, and the Federation of Arts and Cultural Organizations of the Americas.
The organizer said, “This year's K-Folk Painting Exhibition will deliver a deeper message by combining the social values of diplomacy and reunification with traditional art,” adding, “We expect it to be a new chapter in peace diplomacy through art as domestic and foreign folk painting artists will participate together.”
Connecting diplomacy and reunification through art
The exhibition will feature K-folk painitings on the theme of diplomacy and reunification, as well as works of various genres with modern interpretations. The exhibition will also include various side events such as conversations with artists and special lectures.
Insa-dong, where the K-Folk Painting Exhibition will be held, is a center for traditional Korean art and is visited by many domestic and international tourists. As such, this event is expected to be an important opportunity to promote Korean traditional art to the world.
