The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) in partnership with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation unveiled a Hanbok collection designed by actress Kim Tae-ri as part of the 2024 K-Wave Collaborative Content Planning and Development in Hanbok (Hanbok Wave).

Since 2021, MCST has been in charge of the Hanbok Wave project to promote Hanbok, developed through collaboration between Korean Hanbok designers and K-wave artists, domestically and internationally.

The project also aims to support promising Hanbok design houses in expanding their market opportunities abroad. Previously, the project featured participation by former figure skater Kim Yuna (2022) and actress Suzy (2023) to attract significant attention at home and abroad.

Kim Tae-ri’s Hanbok photos featured in a famous fashion magazine (December 21) and video displayed in New York’s Times Square (December 24) and electronic boards at Citadium Paris.

This year, four Korean Hanbok labels, selected through an open competition, participated in the project to collaborate with Kim Tae-ri in designing Hanbok pieces that blend traditional aesthetics with modern beauty.

The Hanbok will be photographed to be featured in the special “Book in Book” of Marie Claire Korea’s January 2025 issue, illustrating Kim’s charm and the beauty of Hanbok.

Kim’s photos were produced into a video clip to be displayed in New York’s Time Square billboard (December 24) and on large electronic boards at Citadium Caumartin in Paris, France (December 23 to 29). In Korea, the video will also be shown on the K-Culture Screen at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History (December 23 to 31) to promote the unique elegance and beauty of Hanbok to foreign tourists visiting Korea.
