President Yoon Suk-yeol held a luncheon meeting with Lee Sang-kyung, chairman of the Association of Korean Law Schools, Ho Moon-hyuk, the first chairman, Director Kim Jong-bo, Chung Hyun-mi, president of the Graduate Law School of Ewha Womans University, and other leaders on Aug. 24.
The meeting was held at the request of the Association of Korean Law Schools to gather opinions from the legal community on the direction of improving the law education system.
After listening to suggestions from professors such as Chairman Lee Sang-kyung on the reality and various difficulties of law education, the president said, "We will review legal personnel and education policies to resolve the biased phenomenon in education centered on lawyer exam subjects and train legal professionals in various fields."
In addition, the president promised, "We will carefully take care of policies to diversify the scholarship system and expand the student loan system so that not only law schools but also other departments cannot study due to difficult environments."
The Yoon Suk -yeol government has adopted and is pursuing various policies to diversify and internalize national scholarships, maintain low interest rates on student loans, and expand the scope of student loans that can be repaid after employment.
An official from the presidential office said, "We will review various matters of the Association of Korean Law Schools and proceed quickly with measures that can be pursued first."
