Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul meets with outgoing Gabonese Ambassador

Gabonese Amb. contributed to the development of bilateral relations for 13 years

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul met on Aug. 27 with Ambassador Carlos Victor Boungou of Gabon to South Korea, who will leave from his post and return to Gabon, at the end of August.
 

Minister Cho praised Ambassador Boungou for his significant contributions to the development of bilateral relations during his 13 years of service as Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, as well as his role as the Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Korea and the Head of the African Diplomatic Corps in Korea, where he served as a bridge between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Corps in Korea.

 

 

In particular, Minister Cho expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Boungou's contributions to the preparation for the Korea-Africa Summit as Head of the African Diplomatic Corps in Korea, including the establishment of the Joint Council between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the African Embassies in Korea, and his efforts to ensure the success of the Summit in various areas, such as organizing the African Cultural Festival and Africa Day events.

 

In response, Ambassador Boungou expressed his deepest gratitude to the Korean government for its active cooperation in helping him fulfill his duties, and expressed his continued interest in and support for the development of bilateral relations.
