TES, an SK Ecoplant company, provided a boost to sustainability efforts in the U.S. with the grand opening in March of a facility in Fredericksburg, Va., dedicated to securely repurpose IT assets. The site will ensure valuable materials from IT equipment can be used again, without compromising data security, instead of ending up in landfills as electronic waste.

The 128,000-square-foot facility is expected to create 100 well-paying jobs in the Fredericksburg area. Strategically located near the largest data center market in the world, the Virginia site will play a special role in processing hyper-scale and enterprise equipment—sophisticated computer systems typically found in data centers.

Acquired by SK Ecoplant in 2022, TES has continued to expand as a global leader in sustainable IT services with advanced recycling technologies focused on delivering security, compliance and environmental responsibility. TES uses technical tools that remove data from devices to provide unparalleled security and confidentiality for Fortune 500 clients.

The acquisition and growth of TES is part of SK Ecoplant’s transformation into a global environmental and energy solutions company. SK Ecoplant has been at the forefront of enabling a circular economy through advanced recycling technologies. These new areas of business underscore the broader efforts across all SK Group companies to cut carbon emissions and reduce harmful impacts on the environment.

With the launch of our cutting-edge facility in Virginia, TES is redefining excellence in IT asset disposition and the way we manage our clients’ technology assets,” said Bill Vasquez, TES general manager, Americas. “The growth of recycling and repurposing will pave the way for a sustainable future, where innovation meets environmental consciousness. Our newest facility has been meticulously designed to maximize efficiency and prepare for the rapidly evolving landscape of enterprise technology."
