Ambassador of Kazakhstan Nurgali Arystanov met with Daejeon City Mayor Lee Jang-woo in Daejeon City on March 12 to explore ways to expand bilateral cooperation.

The Ambassador highlighted the importance of collaboration in science and education. He talked about President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's vision for a prosperous Kazakhstan, in which priority is also attached to increasing scientific and technical potential. This, as noted by the Kazakh Envoy, opens new opportunities for closer ties with Korea, especially in areas like digital transformation and training skilled professionals.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo expressed his intention to expand cooperation, particularly with the Kyzylorda region, with which a Memorandum on establishing sister-city relations was signed in 2023. They also discussed fostering linkages between the business communities of the two countries.

While in the science city, Ambassador Arystanov visited KAIST and met with its President, Dr. Kwang Hyung Lee, to discuss issues of educational cooperation.

At a meeting with Dr. Sung-Kyung Kim, Honorary Chairman, Woosong University, both sides reviewed the present status of collaboration and identified potential areas for launching joint educational programs.

The successful talks point to a mutual desire for enhanced collaboration between Kazakhstan and Korea in science and education.
