President Yoon holds a summit with President of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamedov

Seeks to strengthen cooperation in the energy and plant sectors

President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is in New York for the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held his first summit with Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the afternoon of September 18.
 

During the meeting, President Yoon requested Turkmenistan's support for the 2030 Busan World Expo and exchanged views on ways to develop bilateral relations.

 

 

President Yoon said he was pleased to meet in person during the 15th anniversary of the elevation of bilateral relations to the status of mutually beneficial partnership. President Yoon praised the active construction cooperation between the two countries, especially in energy and plant projects, and expressed his hope that the bilateral cooperation will be strengthened in the future. 

 

In response, President Berdimuhamedov noted that the Republic of Korea has successfully implemented many large-scale projects in Turkmenistan and expressed his hope that cooperation between the two countries will continue.

 

President Berdimuhamedov requested the participation of Korean companies with rich experience and technology in the field of smart cities in the construction of the new city of Arkadaq in Turkmenistan. 

 

President Yoon said he hopes Korean companies can contribute to the construction of new cities and smart transportation systems.

 

The two leaders decided to use the meeting as an opportunity to continue identifying cooperative projects that will benefit the economies of the two countries.
