Hanwha Vice Chairman Kim Dong-gwan met with Polish President Andrzej Duda at Hanwha's booth at MSPO, the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Poland.  Kim explained Hanwha's advanced technology across land, sea, and air, as well as customized solutions specific to the Polish region to the Polish President.

In particular, Vice Chairman Kim highlighted Hanwha Ocean's technologies such as the excellent submergence capabilities of the 3000-ton submarine 'Zhang Bogo-III Batch-II' and the versatile vertical launcher.

Kim and President Duda then discussed technical support measures such as joint products between Hanwha and Polish defense companies, establishment of cooperation systems such as utilizing local shipyards, and MRO business.

Vice Chairman Kim said, "We expect Hanwha's total solutions for land, sea, and air defense to contribute to the enhancement of friendship and technical cooperation between the two countries."

Hanwha Ocean's Jangbogo-III Batch-II submarine is a hybrid diesel submarine that uses airless propulsion (AIP) and lithium-ion batteries to triple the diving time of conventional lead-acid batteries.

The submarine is equipped with a lithium-ion battery co-developed with Hanwha Aerospace and a combat system from Hanwha Systems, and is considered to be an example of the synergy between Hanwha's affiliates.
Poland is currently working on the Orka project to introduce three to four new 3000t class submarines. The project is expected to be worth KRW 3 trillion.

Hanwha Aerospace exhibited the Cheonmoo system (Polish name HOMAR-K), which combines Hanwha's existing Cheonmoo launcher with a vehicle from Poland's Jelcz, and discussed with Polish state-owned defense company PGZ the local production of K9 self-propelled howitzers and subsequent military support, as well as future cooperation on next-generation infantry fighting armored vehicles based on Redback and multi-extended rockets.
