Mayor Lee Jae-young of Jeungpyeong County held an official meeting with Ambassador Chring Botum Rangsay of Cambodia on July 26 at a restaurant in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

During this meeting, they discussed ways to solidify cultural, tourism, and economic exchanges that have been under discussion with Cambodia since October of last year. The focus was on exploring opportunities for local companies in Jeungpyeong to enter the Cambodian market.

Mayor Lee explained to Ambassador Chring the necessity of establishing a channel to connect local companies, Cambodian government agencies, and relevant local companies in order to export regional specialties such as raw and processed ginseng and red ginseng products.

Furthermore, he requested support in securing a foundation for the entry of functional seeds into Cambodia, including confirming the demand for food crops and cross-country regulatory requirements, as well as selecting suitable research and development test sites for seed adaptation trials.

They also agreed to establish a friendly exchange relationship with a Cambodian city in September.

Mayor Lee remarked, "This was a significant occasion where a blueprint for mutual benefit among Jeungpyeong County, Cambodia, and local businesses was concretized," and he expressed his expectation of meaningful results in the latter half of the year.
