HS Hyosung awarded scholarships to four students in Huntsville, Madison, and Decatur, Alabama, who are preparing to enter university, on August 16 (local time).

Through its U.S. subsidiary, HS Hyosung USA, the company collaborated with the Korean-American community in northern Alabama to provide scholarships as part of a Liberation Day commemorative event.

Recipients were selected from among outstanding local students who face financial difficulties, are children of public servants such as firefighters and police officers, or are direct descendants of Korean War veterans. This initiative aims to enhance the image of South Korea and demonstrate the company’s role in contributing to the local community.

The scholarship ceremony was attended by approximately 100 people, including U.S. Army Materiel Command Deputy Commander Jason K. Jefferis, the Deputy Consul General of Atlanta, representatives from the Korean-American associations of northern Alabama and the Southeast U.S., as well as scholarship recipients and their parents.

Alabama, where HS Hyosung operates its facilities, is home to approximately 34,000 Koreans and 60 Korean-affiliated companies in the southeastern U.S., including nearby Georgia and Tennessee.

HS Hyosung manufactures automotive materials locally, producing world-leading tire cords and automotive carpets, and supplies these products to automakers and tire companies such as GM and Goodyear.
