Jeju Province Governor Oh Young-hoon met with ambassadors from nine countries, including those in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines, prior to attending the opening ceremony of the 12th International e-Mobility Expo held at Jeju Shinhwa World on July 9, the province said.
During the meeting with the ambassadors, various areas of cooperation were discussed, including electric vehicles, renewable energy, the circular economy, and smart grids.
The province reported that the African ambassadors to South Korea expressed a common interest in the green hydrogen sector.
Governor Oh said, “Jeju Island has secured a high level of capability in the fields of renewable energy, solar power, and wind power, and is now moving on to hydrogen production,” expressing his willingness to cooperate in various fields, including e-mobility, renewable energy, and agriculture.
Governor Oh introduced the achievements of the used battery recycling project, a key task of the electric vehicle promotion project that began in 2021, to the European ambassadors.
He also explained that the project has been successfully applied to various fields, such as agricultural transport vehicles and energy storage devices for agricultural solar facilities.
The 12th International e-Mobility Expo (IEVE 2025) opened at Jeju Shinhwa World on July 9 for a four-day run. Over 100 domestic and international companies from 50 countries are participating. It consists of over 30 specialized conferences and global business networking events.
