Chung Yong-ki, CEO of Korea District Heating Corporation (KDHC), held a meeting with Aida Ismailova, Kyrgyz Ambassador to South Korea, at KDHC's headquarters in Bundang on June 10, and discussed practical cooperation measures for introducing the “K-heating” model in Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting was an opportunity to explore specific cooperation possibilities for modernizing the aging district heating system and improving energy efficiency in Kyrgyzstan.

At the meeting, CEO Chung introduced KDHC's achievements in regional heating modernization projects in Uzbekistan, consulting on the establishment of an energy supply system for a new city (New Tashkent), carbon emission reduction, and modeling of optimal heat supply systems, emphasizing that this experience could be effectively applied to similar regional heating structures in Kyrgyzstan.

In particular, he presented specific directions for technical cooperation, saying, “If the K-heating system is successfully introduced in Kyrgyzstan, which has energy infrastructure similar to that of Uzbekistan, it will greatly contribute to improving heating quality and minimizing energy loss, as well as reducing carbon emissions and improving the environment.”

In response, Kyrgyzstan's Ambassador to South Korea, Aida Ismailova, said, “South Korea's eco-friendly district heating technology and operational know-how will be of practical help to Kyrgyzstan's heating modernization,” adding, “I hope that the two countries will build a mutually beneficial and sustainable cooperative relationship in the energy sector.”

KDHC CEO Chung then said, “Kyrgyzstan is an important comprehensive partner of Korea, and KDHC, as a public corporation, will continue to strive to spread K-heating based on trust and cooperation between the two countries.”

He added, “Through this cooperation, we will supply warmer and cleaner energy to the people of Kyrgyzstan and contribute to improving their quality of life.”
