Incheon Metropolitan City announced that Incheon City Mayor Yoo Jung-bok met with Acting U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Joseph Yun at the Incheon Global Campus Operations Foundation Support Center on March 26.
Acting Ambassador Joseph Yun was appointed in January 2025 and has served as Special Representative for North Korea Policy at the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, and Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Mayor Yoo Jung-bok welcomed the appointment of Ambassador Yun, who has deep ties to Korea, saying, “We look forward to the further development of the U.S.-Korea relationship.”
He also introduced the Incheon Global Campus, which has attracted world-class universities to provide a variety of educational opportunities for Korean students, including the Stony Brook University, New York, Fashion Institute of Technology, George Mason University, and the University of Utah.
Mayor Yoo said, “We plan to attract more top universities and research centers to foster global talent and contribute to improving regional and national competitiveness by expanding education and research infrastructure.”
He added, “This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Incheon landing, which could be the last time for many elderly veterans, so we are preparing a special event by inviting veterans and top officials from war-participating countries.” He requested Ambassador Yun's cooperation and support in organizing the event.
