Lee Jae-young, mayor of Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, received a plaque of appreciation from the Embassy of Cambodia in Jung-gu, Seoul on Jan. 8.

The plaque was personally delivered by Ambassador Chring Botumrangsay of Cambodia to South Korea, and a meeting was also held to further strengthen bilateral exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

Jeungpyeong-gun has been engaging with Cambodia through its embassy in Seoul since 2022, expanding the scope of bilateral exchanges.

In October 2023, the two sides formalized their cooperation by signing a letter of intent for friendly exchanges with Cambodia's Kandal Province, and in April last year, the military provided Cambodia with one fire truck and two ambulances free of charge, leading the way in international diplomacy in the global era.

In addition, the two sides are actively promoting exchanges such as agricultural technology cooperation with the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and ginseng exports, while cultural exchanges are also underway, such as organizing Korean cultural experiences for Cambodian students in Korea and introducing them to the history and tourist attractions of Jeungpyeong-gun.

“Based on the friendship and cooperation that has been built between Jipyeong and Cambodia, we hope that exchanges will continue to expand in various fields such as agriculture, economy, culture, and tourism this year,” said Lee Jae-young.

Meanwhile, Jeungpyeong County, Chungcheongbuk-do, announced on Jan. 9 that Mayor Lee Jae-young was awarded the 'Integrity Award for Korea in this era'.

The Integrity Award, organized by the National Anti-Corruption Movement and the UN Anti-Corruption Day Commemoration Organizing Committee, is given to politicians, public officials, and others who have contributed to national and political development by establishing a transparent and fair political, administrative, and social culture.

Lee was recognized for leading Jeungpyeong County with transparency and fairness since taking office and establishing a culture of integrity in the community.
