KGCCI receives ‘2024 Korea Energy Award’

For climate change response and greenhouse gas reduction

The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI, President & CEO Martin Henkelmann) has been honored with the 2024 Korea Energy Award.
 
Presented by the Korea Energy Agency, the award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

 

 
KGCCI's receipt of the award underscores its commitment to Climate Change Response and Greenhouse Gas Reduction through initiatives such as government policy development and implementation, public awareness campaigns, and educational programs.
 
Dr. Martin Henkelmann, KGCCI President and CEO, expressed his gratitude, saying “We are deeply honored to receive this award, which reflects the hard work and dedication of our team and members in supporting Korea’s energy transition. This recognition is a testament to the strong partnership between Korea and Germany in advancing sustainability and green technologies. We remain committed to working alongside our partners to drive meaningful change in the industrial sector and continue our efforts towards a sustainable, low-carbon future.”
 
Jihee Jeong, Chair of the Secretariat of Korean-German Energy Partnership and Deputy Director of KGCCI, added, “We extend our sincere gratitude to the responsible officials of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) for their unwavering support and cooperation in making the Korean-German Energy Partnership a success. Strengthening energy cooperation between Korea and Germany is more than a reward for our efforts—it’s a shared milestone toward a sustainable future.”
 
Since being designated as the official Secretariat of the Korean-German Energy Partnership in 2021, KGCCI with adelphi together has actively driven energy collaboration between the two countries. KGCCI has facilitated working group meetings, energy workshops, expert discussions, delegation trips, and co-organized the Korean-German Energy Day, serving as a vital bridge for policymakers and energy professionals to share insights and advance mutual goals.
