Hungarian Ambassador to Korea István Szerdahelyi held a meeting with President Jang Beom-sik of Soongsil University on Nov. 7.
During the meeting, President Jang and Ambassador Szerdahelyi discussed the need to revitalize the educational exchange between Soongsil University and Hungary.
“Soongsil University currently enrolls about 3,000 foreign students and has maintained sister relationship with three foreign universities, including Budapest Metropolitan University in Hungary,” said President Jang.
“Soongsil University was the first university in Korea to start computer education in 1969, and we have strengths in the IT field, including the recent appointment of an adjunct professor from Samsung Semiconductor,” he said, adding, ”We would like to foster talent in both countries through active exchanges with Hungary, which is a science and technology powerhouse.”
“Hungary is a science and technology powerhouse that has produced 12 Nobel Prize winners in science and technology,” said Ambassador Szerdahelyi, adding, ”We look forward to active cooperation that will be of great benefit to both countries.”
“I am excited and happy to give a lecture to the Political Science and Diplomacy Department class next week, and I will share many interesting stories with the students. I will introduce various educational support programs, including the Government Invitation Scholarship Program, so that Soongsil University students can benefit from the Embassy's support,” said Ambassador Szerdahelyi.
