KEPCO, led by CEO Kim Dong-cheol, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic for technical cooperation in the energy sector, KEPCO announced on May 10.

The MOU provides an opportunity for KEPCO to cooperate with the Kyrgyz Republic on new energy technologies such as high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) and intelligent electricity metering system (AMI).

“We will share our experience in growing the power business with the Kyrgyz Republic and continue to cooperate on new energy projects such as high-voltage HVDC, next-generation advanced distribution management system (ADMS), and AMI,” said Kim Dong-cheol, president of KEPCO.

“We hope that this agreement will promote the development of joint projects in the power sector and create a foundation for the continued strengthening of cooperative relations between our two countries,” said Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy Talaibek Ibraev.

The Kyrgyz Republic is committed to increasing the share of renewable energy sources in its 2040 Medium-Term National Development Program. Recently, the country has been promoting related policies, such as collaborating with domestic and foreign energy companies to improve power quality in the country.
