Hanwha Life President and CGO Kim Dong-won attended the Davos Forum in Switzerland from January 15 to 19, and had a time of active exchange and cooperation with global financial industry leaders.

Hanwha Life's global field management is aimed at expanding its activities beyond the limits of the domestic insurance market, where growth has stagnated due to market saturation and an aging population.

President Kim, who visited Davos for the second year in a row, held more than 10 business meetings and focused on finding the direction of Hanwha's global strategy and exploring ways to expand the Asian market.

The theme of this year's Davos Forum was "Rebuilding Trust," and through the official sessions, Hanwha deliberated extensively on major issues such as AI, climate change, and security.

In particular, on Jan. 17, President Kim had a meeting with John Riady, the CEO of the Lippo Group, the 6th largest group in Indonesia, to solidify bilateral relationship. The two met at the Davos Forum in 2016 and have been working closely together ever since, culminating in the acquisition of Lippo Non-life Insurance by Hanwha Life Indonesia Corp. in March last year.

In his meeting with John Riady, President Kim and Vice Chairman Yeo Seung-joo discussed in detail the insurance outlook for Indonesia and future cooperation.

Based on the fact that Indonesia is a key market for next-generation electric vehicles, they discussed the possibility of collaborating to discover the future of the non-life insurance industry.

They also met with Chairman David Rubenstein and Harvey Schwartz and CEO Harvey Schwartz of Carlyle, the world's largest private equity firm, to discuss the global economy, private equity market outlook, and promising investment areas. Through this, they focused on finding opportunities in the overseas investment market and the direction of future investment strategy.

In addition, on Jan. 18, CEO & Vice Chairman Yeo met with James Landay, vice chief of the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) Institute at Stanford University in the U.S., to discuss the prospects and applications of generative AI.

President Kim attended the Davos Forum for the sixth time this year, starting in 2016. Since last year, Kim has been the Chief Global Officer (CGO) of Hanwha Life, setting the future direction and strategy of the global business and playing a leading role in creating results. He will continue his global management activities by promoting various global businesses and enhancing the management system of existing overseas businesses.
