The Gyeongsangnam-do (Gyeongnam) delegation, headed by Governor Park Wan-soo, attended the 'Korean American-Gyeongnam Businessmen's Meeting' in Orange County, California, U.S.A., together with the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, U.S.A., for friendly exchanges with Korean businessmen on Oct. 9.

The meeting was attended by 25 people, including Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Park Wan-soo, Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce Federation President Koo Ja-cheon, Orange County Korean Chamber of Commerce President Noh Sang-il, and World Korean Business Congress Co-Chairman Yoon Man.

At the meeting, they wished for the successful hosting of the World Korean Business Congress and discussed ways to cooperate with Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongnam businessmen, as well as ways to exchange with overseas local governments, business leaders, and academics utilizing the capabilities of overseas Koreans.

Governor Park Wan-soo said, "In the year of the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States and the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-ROK alliance, the World Korean Business Congress was held for the first time in the United States, and it was an opportunity to take a step forward as a global event."

He added, "As the capabilities of overseas Koreans are growing, we look forward to exploring ways to develop and cooperate with overseas figures related to strategic industries in the region."

The World Korean Business Congress is the largest business gathering of Korean Americans to explore overseas markets and build global networks with the participation of overseas Korean business organizations.

With the theme "Together with the U.S.-Korea Business Alliance, a Bigger Us," this year's congress is the largest ever and the first to be held in the United States.

Meanwhile, the Gyeongnam delegation plans to continue its efforts in LA to lead the revitalization and rebirth of the local economy by expanding seafood exports, including promoting the stability and excellence of Gyeongnam's seafood products.
