Jeju City, Weihai City sign a friendship and cooperation city pact

The two cities will establish a relationship for sustainable development and shared prosperity

Jeju City will participate in the 2023 World Forum of Friendly Cities in Weihai City, Shandong Province, China, and sign a Friendship and Cooperation City Agreement with Weihai City.
 

Under the theme of "Green Development and Low Carbon Living," the World Forum of Friendship Cities invites more than 1,000 representatives of international friendship cities, business leaders, experts, and media representatives from 16 cities in Shandong Province to promote cooperation.

 

 

At the opening ceremony on September 25, Jeju City will sign a Friendship and Cooperation City Agreement with Weihai City (Mayor Kung Fanping), China, under the theme of "mutual sustainable development and shared prosperity.”

 

Through this agreement, Jeju City and Weihai City will establish a permanent contact system to promote cooperation and friendship on issues of common interest, and promote common prosperity and development through active exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as economy, maritime, culture, tourism, and sports.

 

Jeju City Mayor Kang Byung-sam will deliver a congratulatory speech as a representative city of friendship and cooperation, thanking the officials of the Shandong Provincial People's Government for providing an opportunity for communication and meeting.

 

In addition, at the "Marine and Fisheries Sector Meeting" with Weihai City on Sept. 27, Mayor Kang, accompanied by Yang Ki-ho, President of Hanlim Fisheries Cooperative, will promote the excellence of Jeju's local fisheries products and discuss ways to support their export to China.

 

"Based on trust and friendship, the two cities will cooperate and develop together in various fields in the future," said Jeju City Mayor Kang Byung-sam. "We will strive for the development of both cities through more active exchanges with Weihai, China's largest seafood production base and a famous tourist city."
